This 16-hour course is to provide a foundation and comprehensive understanding for the role as a SWAT sniper/observer utilizing night vision equipment. This course will provide students with the information and hands-on experience needed to effectively use night vision devices, in conjunction with precision rifles, in a tactical environment. Understanding the capabilities of night vision equipment, developing confidence in deployment tactics, and night vision marksmanship is a vital role in bringing high risk situations to the safest resolution possible. This course will start to build a mental rolodex utilizing night vision devices and thermals to provide a better understanding in the capabilities of the equipment. Scenario based training along with threat ID will also be provided during this course. This course will also cover de-escalation and how a sniper can assist with intelligence gathering/positioning/plan development to assist the overall command element to plan for a safer resolution. A brief overview on AB-392 and SB-230, and how it could apply in the role of a SWAT sniper.
